We have 400 questions that pertain to the General Knowledge exam spread out over eight practice tests available free. ![]() Our practice tests take the stress out of what questions you will encounter and makes passing a breeze. If you do not earn the requisite passing scores on your first attempt, you will need to retake the subtests on which you did not score high enough. These questions are all covered by the 2022 Texas CDL drivers’ manual, but it can be confusing and there is a lot of information in the book. The FTCE General Knowledge Test will cost 130 for your first attempt on any combination of subtests, and 130 for any possible retakes (again, on any combination of subtests). If you fail you will not be able to retake the test on the same day, so you will have to make another trip. You will have one hour to complete the General Knowledge test, and will be allowed to miss only 10 questions before you have to start the process over again. The tools below contain general knowledge. The General Knowledge CDL permit knowledge test is for ALL commercial drivers (CDL Class A, B and C). The general knowledge test consists of 50 multiple choice questions, and a score of 80% (40 out of 50) or better is required to pass. The General Knowledge CDL permit test preparation tools are designed to help you study for the General Knowledge written test you will take if you want to get a CDL. In order to obtain a CLP (Commercial Learners Permit) which is the first step to getting a CDL, which you will need to operate any commercial vehicle, you will first have to take and pass the General Knowledge test. ![]()
